    1. This is the worst of the 6 lists.

    2. No, no, no. This is without a doubt the best list on the site. However, some of the other lists are really horrible. Joseph Braverman is so spot off. I mean, Refn for best director? That’s just so unlikely (same with Malick) and Chastain for best supporting actress. Horrible, horrible, horrible list.

This one is actually decent and I agree with a lot of your choices. Except for Best Documentary and the Sound categories I agree on all your predicted winners!

      • You forget, my friend, that this is a very unlikely and unpredictable year with the new rule change. Anything can happen so we will see on Tuesday.

        • But we are still talking about “predicting”. Your picks should reflect what you think is likely to happen, not what you hope happen or what would be surprising.

I honestly think you have some very, very unusual choices. I don’t see ANYTHING at all pointing at Chastain winning best supporting actress for The Tree of Life. I mean, she is pushed for The Help and got a SAG-nomination for that perfomance. Why should she possibly be the favorite to win for best supporting actress for The Tree of Life? I also think a double nomination for Pitt is very unlikely.

I respect the fact that you have a different opinion that mine, but I just think your picks are too different from the guilds – even though it is a unpredictable year. But we”ll see on tuesday. :P

          • For Chastain, she has won many awards from critics circles for The Tree of Life. I also think the Academy would take her role in Tree of Life more seriously as a stronger, more dramatic turn that was the pinnacle performance of her breakout year. I loved her in The Help, but she simply had far stronger work in The Tree of Life. It could very well be a Blood Diamond acting switch, but we shall see. If Chastain is nominated for Tree of Life, she could very easily put a dent in Spencer’s invincible armor. I predicted what I thought would happen, as well as taking into account the recent steam for certain films, and trying to figure out how the Academy will be voting. I predicted films with huge potential for number one votes. I think it’s wise to put in a few surprise noms, because its always good to prepare for a “Blind Side.” I do thank you for your input though. I always welcome a dialogue.

    3. I don’t agree with your choices for Best Makeup, Best Song and Best Editing either… And director is probably 50/50 between Scorsese and Hazanavicius :) Still a great list though!

    5. Maybe Broche thinks the inclusion of DiCaprio is laughable?

      • The eternal paradox of personal conviction vs what the Academy will select… I have strong reservations with DiCaprio getting a nod but am hedging my bets on the safe choice… Although I personally like the performance in a subpar film, I don’t want the nod to come at the expense of other worthy performances… We shall see… Hope I’m wrong…

        • If anyone from J. Edgar should get a surprise nomination, I would hope it’s Hammer. I wanted DiCaprio to be good, I wanted the whole thing to be good, but in the end I was let down. Hopefully the next Eastwood movie is better.

          • I agree completely. I actually liked J. Edgar (yes I aware I’m in the minority) but Armie Hamer, makeup excluded, was the star of this film and gave the best acting performance. He was the toughest nominee to snub off my list but I think enough Academy voters want to reward Brad Pitt with two stellar acting roles which is why I bumped up Pitt over Hammer.
