I know I wasn’t the only one wondering when Clint Eastwood would spring his Hoover biopic on audiences. Well, now we seem to have some information about when. It’ll be screening as the opening film at the AFI Fest this year. It’s right before the film has its limited opening, so take that as a good or bad sign. Here’s part of the press release that just hit, after the jump…
The American Film Institute (AFI) announced today that J. EDGAR, directed by AFI Life Achievement Award recipient and Academy Award-winning director Clint Eastwood, will have its world premiere as the Opening Night Gala of AFI FEST 2011 presented by Audi…
“Clint Eastwood is an American icon one whose work as a director, actor, producer and composer not only stands the test of time, but also continues to add new, rich chapters with each passing year,” said Bob Gazzale, President and CEO of the American Film Institute. “What a gift it is to be going to the movies when Clint Eastwood is making them, and what an honor it is for the American Film Institute to premiere his latest contribution to America’s cultural legacy.”

This is how Clint has been doing it of late, so take that as you will…
there are some favorites films openning later than J. Edgar. November is not a bad month for a movie looking for the Oscars.
Sorry for my English.
The month isn’t the issue, it’s debut screening that close to the actual opening…sometimes that’s a bad sign.
ok. i had no idea.
No worries.
