This is reportedly truncated from the 8-9 minute preview that critics, press, and select screening audiences saw last week. To me, this looks mighty impressive and the Trent Reznor/Atticus Ross score feels strong. However, what say you?!?! Does this cement the film as a player in the race or is it still on the outside looking in for you?

    About Michael Ward

My love of film began at the age of 7 when my parents not only gave me a television, but HBO to boot. My first theatrical experience was "E.T." My first movie cry came with "Old Yeller". "The Usual Suspects" made me decide to make movies and film writing a priority in life, even knowing the twist beforehand. My passion for film, music, and pop culture in general can be isolated to my youth. My love for film took root in high school. Above all else, movies and art, in any form, exist to entertain and I remain much more interested in how art affects others, more than with myself. But I love the conversation and to have a chance to share my thoughts and be a part of the community here is a unique and enriching experience.

    2. I confess: If this wasn´t a remake, I´d even be excited to see it. It does look well directed – but then being a Fincher film, I would expect nothing less. The soundtrack sounds good too… I like Fincher´s minimalistic use of music (at least as of lately).

    3. My opinion, it’s looks like it’s going to get the classic Fincher consensus, like Se7en or Fight Club; incredible film, maybe even an eventual cult classic, but not the Academy’s cup of tea.
But I think I’m okay with that.

    5. I have a strong feeling this is a true contender. If Rooney Mara can pull of the role of Lisabeth Salander, she’ll be a frontrunner for Best Actress.
