There has been a massive update to our Oscar Tracker page ranging from the inclusions of all the films that debuted at the Toronto Film Festival to our recent film openings like “Drive” and “Moneyball.”
Also, the Oscar predictions are nearly complete with the all the Technical categories being updated. Obviously there will be some gripes and there usually pretty hard to gauge this far out in the season but some notable inclusions is a crap loud of nominations for “Harry Potter & the Deathly Hallows Part II,” which may be foolish, “War Horse” taking the lion’s share of awards and nominations but that’s just playing it safe. Something I really want to point out, Visual Effects, Sound Mixing, and Sound Editing seem to be a death match for some early summer blockbuster films like “Super 8,” “Rise of the Planet of the Apes,” and “The Tree of Life.” They’re showing up on my list often but the guilds are going to clear that up of course, but I’m curious what others think about those techs. Is it just me?
Check out the two pages, make sure to comment, and include your own predictions!
