Well, it’s Charlie Kaufman after all, so you can’t expect much less than a unique viewing experience.  His upcoming second directorial project surrounding film blogging is a rather baity one, that’s for sure.  We already knew the plot would involve Steve Carrell as a director going to war with a film blogger played by Jack Black.  Nic Cage also co-stars, reuniting with Kaufman.  The flick is called ‘Frank or Francis’, and is high up on my most anticipated list.  Variety reports that the cast just got even more impressive.  Here’s their story on the casting:

The cast of Charlie Kaufman’s sophomore feature “Frank or Francis” just got a little more interesting, as Kevin Kline is now attached to tackle not one but two supporting roles in the film, which is slated to star Jack Black, Steve Carell and Nicolas Cage.

A satire of Hollywood set to music, project chronicles the back-and-forth between a movie director and an online blogger who delights in berating his cinematic talent.

Black will play Francis, a charmless yet extremely intelligent Internet troll who reviews movies online.

Carell is in talks to play Frank, a successful, somewhat pretentious filmmaker who is cheating on his wife.

Cage will portray The Emcee, an actor famous for commercial, high-concept films including his most recent hit, “Fat Dad.”

As for Kline, he’ll play Richard Waller, the brother of Jonathan Waller, the director of a fictional film titled “Hiroshima,” the highest-grossing movie of all-time. Kline will also play Richard’s Head, an animatronic head that, through the use of advanced screenwriting techniques, helps Jonathan develop a completely inoffensive product that will have the broadest possible appeal and zero artistic integrity.

  2. Sounds very interesting doesn’t it? It’s weird how the Oscar blogging world used to be such a under the radar thing and now it’s going to be featured in a film.
