I’m a bit surprised Melancholia was picked over some of the others, but I’m glad at least that Moneyball was chosen. It just looks like such an incredibly weird film based on the trailer…
This is my honesty and opinion and this goes to everyone except John. I personally think your choices were weak. None of you chose bad movies but I felt there were more movies that were deserving to compete in the wild card.
I for one don’t think Bridesmaids is a weak choice. It was well written, well acted and a great movie overall and a personal favorite of the year. But in the end, we were left with the movies people didn’t vote for.
Interesting point. There has always been an animated film in the top 12 of academy idol (Last year there were 2). I put this down to the fact that the quality of animated features this year have been poor. Last year, though everyone knew Toy Story 3 would win the oscar, there were still brilliant animated films like How to train your Dragon, Despicable Me, The illusionist, Megamind and The Owls of Ga Hoole. This year, aside from Tintin (which was brilliant) and Rango, the animated movies dont seem oscarworthy. (That said, I havent seen Happy Feet 2)

Bridesmaids will probably make my top 10 but if it makes the top 12 it’s gotta take this competition seriously.

If you didn’t pick Bridesmaids, I likely would have…

Also, is it 1 original and 1 adapted that go through, or just the two with the highest votes?

Very interesting how this year the animation films were easily discarded when just last year we had “How To Train Your Dragon” come in second place.
