Alongside Editor-in-Chief Clayton Davis, the six talented writers of the Awards Circuit have updated their Oscar Predictions accordingly. While the consensus seems it’s a race between “The Artist” and “The Descendants” in the Best Picture race, there is no real consensus on the acting categories. Some are feeling that co-star of “Bridesmaids” and Emmy Award Winner Melissa McCarthy may be able to go the distance while some are foreseeing Michael Fassbender winning an Oscar for “Shame” or Terrence Malick taking his long overdue Directing Oscar for “The Tree of Life.”
Whatever you feel, this is the spot for you to include your own predictions, but not before you check out the writer’s current Oscar picks.
Comment and discuss.

Joseph Braverman’s predictions are so laughable he should be shot. Malick ain’t winning director and how can The Artist win Picture with nothing in the top 5. Chastain will get in for the help and win if she gets in for TOL she isn’t winning also TOL for Visual FX? Just quit now

That’s a bit extreme. Don’t you think. At this point in the game a few years ago, weren’t we all saying Kate Winslet was GOING TO WIN for “Revolutionary Road” NOT the “The Reader” and look what happened.
Unless you’ve seen the ballots, these are all guesses.

Hyperbole much?

Wow, interesting…As long as a film is on the short list for visual effects, there is always a chance. Part of what stayed in people’s minds for TOL was that opening sequence of the beginning of life, with all that imagery and use of effects for the world’s transformation. I honestly believe it has a good shot. Please clarify what you mean by “how can The Artist win Picture with nothing in the top 5.” Thanks for your passionate stance.

I love how we have all such different opinions, but it looks like we all agree The Artist, Moneyball, and The Descendants are pretty much locks for Best Picture.

Scratch Moneyball* just first two I mentioned. I really am wondering what is going to be the surprise nominee this year. I remember The Blind Side and The Reader took everyone by surprise, but it could really be anything this year. I am hoping it either goes to Shame or Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, but I would not be upset if it went to 50/50.

I quite like Joey’s picks, but I may be a little biased…

Much obliged.
