    1. I think unless War Horse makes a surprise win for Best Drama at the Golden Globes, it may find itself knocked out of the Best Picture race in favor of Girl With the Dragon Tattoo. Girl with the Dragon Tattoo went from being an early hype, to losing its buzz a few weeks before the release, and now its buzz is building after pretty good reviews and a steady box office, that’s actually out-grossed War Horse at this point.

      • Even if it wins the Golden Globe Award, it won’t matter. It won’t make the headlines in time. The ballots are on Jan 13th (which is two days before the actual Golden Globe Awards). And a Globe win can’t indicate industry support because it isn’t voted by the industry. Other than that, the first WAR HORSE weakness was indicated by the HFPA. They ignored the film in the best director category. This could be the first time when Spielberg helms a prestige film and doesn’t get a nod there. Anyway, I’m not quite sure about The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo. It could easily get THE DARK KNIGHT treatment from the Academy.

    2. LOVE the Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy mention and The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo as well! TGWTDT is really picking up steam! Both were immaculately shot.

    4. I’m truly surprised at the War Horse snub. That was one of its best qualities. I’m rooting for The Artist or The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo here.

    5. All of the Guild support is pretty much forcing Spielberg out the door and ushering in David Fincher with a tidal wave. Even the most optimistic did not anticipate the support DRAGON TATTOO would be getting and although I find it far superior to WAR HORSE personally…part of me cannot help but think that there is a large number of Academy voters still bristling over Fincher’s SOCIAL NETWORK losing last year. Few, if any, films have received this much Guild support, whether nominated eventually by Oscar or not in the technical categories, and not been a factor in the Best Picture race. The next question to ponder is if there is room for Rooney Mara in the Actress conversation. That I have no read on whatsoever…

    6. War Horse got robbed, THAT SUCKS! Truly a great film. I am glad for Girl with the Dragon Tattoo though. They best feel bad for snubbing Fincher last year for that no talent ass clown they call Tom Hooper.
