Last night saw another tech awards show in the Motion Picture Sound Editors’ 59th annual Golden Reel Awards. They spread the wealth around between films, not just honoring ‘Hugo’, but also ‘War Horse’ and ‘Super 8′ (among others), as you can see below:

Sound Effects and Foley in a Feature Film: “War Horse”

Music in a Feature Film: “Hugo”

Dialogue and ADR in a Feature Film: “Super 8″

Music in a Musical Feature Film: “The Muppets”

Sound Effects, Foley, Dialogue and ADR in an Animated Film: “The Adventures of Tintin”

Sound Effects, Foley, Dialogue, ADR and Music in a Feature Documentary: “George Harrison: Living in the Material World”

Sound Effects, Foley, Dialogue and ADR in a Feature Foreign Language Film: “The Flowers of War”

Career Achievement Award: George Watters II

    Filmmaker Award: Gale Anne Hurd

I’m still pretty confident in ‘Hugo’ being the Sound favorite at the Oscars, but perhaps ‘War Horse’ could sneak in with a last minute win in one of the categories? We shall see…

    About Joey Magidson

When he’s not obsessing over new Oscar predictions on a weekly basis, Joey is seeing between 200 and 300 movies a year. He views the best in order to properly analyze the awards race/season each year, but he also watches the worst for reasons he mostly sums up as "so you all don't have to". In his spare time, you can usually find him complaining about the Jets or the Mets. Still, he lives and dies by film. Joey's a voting member of the Internet Film Critics Association as well. Today the IFCA, tomorrow the world!
