If Darren Aronofsky is involved with a project, it has my attention. Even when he was going to direct ‘The Wolverine’, I had high hopes for the flick due to his involvement. Thankfully though, he moved on and will be getting to make his dream project instead. ‘Noah’ isn’t a film that I’d be pumped for without Aronofsky at the helm (as a lapsed Jew with Agnostic leanings, Noah’s Ark is hardly a tale that I give a lot of thought to in my day to day life), but with his artistic sensibilities at sail, I’m down for whatever this turns out to. Well, The Playlist has spotted a release date over at Box Office Mojo, and it appears we’re going to have to wait until March of 2014 to see the flick. This could change, but for now, mark your calendars. You can read their post after the jump, but while we wait for 2014 to arrive, please enjoy Ricky Gervais’ take on Noah’s Ark here…
While there were rumors back in January that we would see this as early as fall 2013, Paramount has gone ahead and dated Darren Aronofsky’s “Noah” for a far-off March 28, 2014 release. And this will give the helmer plenty of time to finesse the vision of the movie that he has been brewing for years.
Russell Crowe will star in the Biblical tale as the man who has become disillusioned with the way humans have treated the planet and its animals, and then builds one helluva boat. Environmentalism has never been so…rugged. But there is still lots to put together on the project. Apparently a villain of some kind still needs to be cast, and we’re curious about just how many characters there will be and how much of the movie is centered on the flood itself, which devastates the Earth. Is Crowe going to be on a boat for half the movie? Are they gonna CGI the animals? Or (most likely) is Aronofsky pitching the whole story though his uniquely filtered lens making it a far cry from the Sunday School stories of yore? The date is so far off that it has no competition on that weekend yet, and we’d wager not too many people are going to try and take it on. And to keep with the theme of two-of-everything in the story, make sure you bring someone with you to see it on opening day. Production begins this summer.

That it is.

Maybe Noah will go crazy trying to build the perfect ark and there will be a Russell Crowe on Russell Crowe sex scene. Then we can all call it one of the year’s best movies! I just don’t think I can get behind any religious movies anymore. Even when it’s Aronofsky.

I have my doubts that this will be religious at all….much more of a sci-fi flick.
