Penned by actress Zoe Kazan, ‘Ruby Sparks’ (formerly titled ‘He Loves Me’) is shaping up to be one of my most anticipated releases of 2012. I’m a fan of Kazan as an actress so far in her career and always like to give a chance to an actor or actress that steps behind the scenes. It certainly doesn’t hurt that the premise for this romantic dramedy is one that seems downright delightful to me. Directed by Jonathan Dayton and Valerie Faris of ‘Little Miss Sunshine’ fame, this story of a writer (Paul Dano) who manifests his dream girl (Kazan) into existence now has a trailer that you can see after the jump. For my money, it’s one of the better trailers of the year so far, but you can be the judge of that yourself below…

    About Joey Magidson

When he’s not obsessing over new Oscar predictions on a weekly basis, Joey is seeing between 200 and 300 movies a year. He views the best in order to properly analyze the awards race/season each year, but he also watches the worst for reasons he mostly sums up as "so you all don't have to". In his spare time, you can usually find him complaining about the Jets or the Mets. Still, he lives and dies by film. Joey's a voting member of the Internet Film Critics Association as well. Today the IFCA, tomorrow the world!

    1. Paul Dano is allways a great reason for seeing a movie. But this one not came just with Dano, but with the people who gave him his real breakthrough. its going to be interesting.

    3. I’m a huge Little Miss Sunshine fan and I loved Paul Dano in it, so I’m definitely looking forward to this. I also think Zoe Kazan is a fascinating talent. The premise is a little weird, but it looks very endearing.

    5. Does anyone know the song which starts at about 1:31 of the trailer? So far I’ve been able to figure out Wood by Rostam, followed by The Lamb and the Lion by The Mae Shi.

    9. I’m embargoed from saying what I thought about the film, but I figured I’d let you know that I saw it a few weeks ago and I’ll be writing A LOT about it in about 2 and a half weeks…
