  • New motion capture ‘Tarzan’ announced, Lutz to star

    "Tarzan" getting another makeover...

    May 4, 2012

There are 89 movies listed in IMDB with Tarzan in the tittle and it looks like we will be getting one more to make it an even 90. The Hollywood Reporter has learned that a new motion capture 3D adaptation of the Edgar Rice Burroughs literary mainstay is being developed by Constantin Films. Kellan Lutz, who plays Emmett in the Twilight films, is signed on to star as the central character and Spencer Locke will play Jane.

While the story has been told many times, this new adaptation will look to update the common tale. In the script, Tarzan’s parents will be killed in airplane crash rather than being marooned with their child and the villain is the CEO of Greystoke Energies, a man who took over the company from Tarzan’s deceased parents. Jane in this adaptation will be the daughter of an African guide and is committed to the conservation and preservation of the African jungle. She eventually works with Tarzan to defeat the mercenary army of Greystoke Energies.

I can’t say this is particularly exciting news considering how many other adaptations of this story there are, not to mention the added fact of motion capture 3D, but the format should fit well with the scenes of Tarzan swinging through the trees.
