Happy listening!

Good podcast guys. I have to say that I’m a little surprised nobody mentioned “A Prophet” or “Pan’s Labyrinth” as foreign films that should have been considered Best Picture contenders.
Oh Robert, I love listening to and reading your opinions. I would ask what your thoughts would be on Hooper’s television work, such as Elizabeth I and John Adams. I have a feeling what your thoughts are, but I personally thought they were strong works.
Anne Hathaway seems like a really solid contender, particularly because if she nails that song, it’ll be enough. Sometimes that’s all you need (see Jennifer Hudson).
I don’t watch a tremendous amount of TV, so I’m not really excited about ACCA TV. However, the Best Actor in a Comedy Series is my favorite category (go Charlie Day!). Still, I’ll be more excited when we get to ACCA 2000. And for the record, I voted for Archer.
And finally, on the Meryl Streep thing, it’s probably not going to happen, but she did manage to turn “The Devil Wears Prada” into an Oscar nomination, so who knows?

Booyah! on the Hudson comment.
And I appreciate the support for Archer.

Good call on Pan’s Labyrinth

Great podcast! The readers did a fantastic job with ACCA TV, I felt! Some really great picks, and a few unexpected ones! Terence and someone else who booed, I’m actually going to defend Alexander Skarsgard’s performance in ‘True Blood’ Season Four. Sure, in a few other seasons he’s just been there as a viking spectacle, but this season he perfectly captured amnesia to a tee, and it made him seem more sympathetic than ever as opposed to his normal nihilistic self. So there! Charlie Day and Emilie Clarke get noms as well? Readers, you rock! Mark, another “Did You Know” segment I had no idea about! Well done!

-Well Robert, I thought you gave Stewart’s talents a fair assessment.
-Early question for the next podcast: Is anyone thinking about James Gray’s new untitled movie with Joaquin Phoenix? If that movie does come out this year, could an excellent performance from Phoenix help boost his chances with a The Master nomination? Could it hurt his chances with a split or double nomination? I guess what I’m really asking is whether multiple good performances by an actor in a single year are more likely to help or hurt that actor’s chances overall at the Oscars.
-Go Nick Offerman!
- Clayton, don’t listen to those IMDB morons. Your predictions helped me win money at the last two Oscar parties I went to. If I had listened to the advice of some IMDBers, I would have predicted Meryl Streep to have 12 Oscars by now and Stanley Kubrick to be winning awards from beyond the grave. The IMDB goons have nothing better to do than celebrate their own anonymous mediocrity by incessantly praising the 12 good movies they’ve seen in their collective lifetime. I duel with these lurkers on a daily basis and let me tell you, it’s a black hole on some of those boards, beware.

I’m a big fan of Two Lovers, so Gray’s new flick is definitely on my radar.

Great podcast. I was surprised nobody else shares my love for Criminal Minds or Person of Interest, but overall good nominations.
