NBC has been much maligned for its programming choices and ratings woes, but the recently announced Critics Choice Television Awards sure make it seem as if they were firing on all cylinders. The network racked up 14 nominations, including six nominations for fan favorite Community, on their way to being the most nominated network. NBC is followed closely by ABC with 13 nominations, FOX and HBO with 12, AMC and FX with 11. The Critics Choice Television Awards are voted on by the Broadcast Television Journalist Association and will be presented on June 18th at a gala in Beverly Hills. The full list of nominees is available after the jump.

Where are the nominations for Eva Longoria, Teri Hatcher, Kathryn Joosten & Vanessa Williams (Desperate Housewives), Sofia Vergara & Eric Stonestreet (Modern Family), Melissa McCarthy & Swoosie Kurtz (Mike & Molly), Courteney Cox, Busy Philipps, Christa Miller & Ian Gomez (Cougar Town)??? These are truly funny characters that need recognition!!!

You can’t recognize everyone and it looks like the Critics Choice took a stand on a few under-recognized shows, particularly Community. I love that show (I think it’s one of the few shows out there that strikes a perfect balance between being clever and making me care for the characters). I hope the Emmys follow suit with at least nominating Danny Pudi and Alison Brie (though I love the noms for Jim Rash and Gillian Jacobs, since both their characters have really grown on me after uncertain starts). They also seem to have taken a stand against a total domination of Modern Family, but I’m glad they still recognized Ty Burrell and Julie Bowen (I love the entire cast, but those two are consistently the best). It’s also interesting that they snubbed 30 Rock and Glee entirely
(though I’m sure both will show up at the Emmys), that Boardwalk Empire only managed one nomination (that will change at the Emmys, I assure you) and it’s good to see the new kids on the block doing well, such as Homeland (but where’s Mandy Patinkin), Girls and New Girl. It’s also great to see Eden Sher nominated again (I love The Middle and she’s easily an MVP on that show, she and Atticus Shaeffer), and I love seeing Cheryl Hines nominated for Suburgatory (she’s definitely the MVP on that show, even though the whole cast is spectacular), and great to finally see some recognition for Emmy Rossum in Shameless (the heart and soul of that show). There’s still some television I need to watch, but I find these nomination pretty satisfying overall. I still think the Emmys will resemble last year more than they will these, but we’ll see….

Love all the love for Community, Girls, and especially Max Greenfield! He’s getting my vote hands down!

I’m so happy that SONS OF ANARCHY got some love!!! It’s so rare when it happens, but it is so well deserved. I would have loved to have seen Ron Perlman in the supporting category though. He made the entire audience of the show hate him this season. Katey Sagal always kills it on that show so I’m not surprised to see her in there.
