So far, I’ve enjoyed every one of George Clooney’s directorial offerings (yes, even ‘Confessions of a Dangerous Mind’ and ‘Letherheads’), though I think he’s at his very best when he’s being political in nature with his work (he’s obviously passionate and it shows). Lucky me then, because it appears that Clooney has another film of that ilk planned, according to The Playlist here. It’s called ‘The Yankee Commandante’, and after the jump you can see what it’s about. In my eyes, Clooney can do very little wrong when on this track, as he showed in ‘Good Night and Good Luck’ as well as last year’s underrated offering ‘The Ides of March’. Read on below for more…
Here’s what the article says the film will be about:
The film is based on David Grann’s recent New Yorker story about William Alexander Morgan, an American who led a guerrilla force with Fidel Castro in the mountains of Cuba and helped overthrow the Batista dictatorship in 1958. He also helped foil a coup by the Dominican Republic’s dictator a year later, but fell out with Castro over his anti-Communist beliefs and was executed in 1961.
