  • Sequel to ‘Before Sunrise’ and ‘Before Sunset’ is about to start shooting

Julie Delpy, Ethan Hawke, and Richard Linklater could be coming back for more...

    June 15, 2012

I’m not sure that the trio of co-writer/director Richard Linklater and co-writers/stars Ethan Hawke and Julie Delpy get enough credit for the films ‘Before Sunrise’ and ‘Before Sunset’. The mere fact that almost everyone agrees that the previously assumed to be needless sequel was just about as good as the original, well…that’s rare. Could they tempt fate and make this a trilogy, as the rumors have said for a year or two now? Apparently, that’s still the plan, according to Collider here, where Hawke claims production is just around the corner. I definitely don’t think this is necessary, but I love those two flicks dearly, so I’d surely see this one. After the jump you can see where this new film might go, but the trio working together is good enough for me…

Apparently, Hawke teased that the biggest difference for this new film is the internet, which is frustratingly vague and also opens up a whole host of possibilities, both good and bad. I trust Linklater to direct a strong and quite possibly great film and for Delpy and Hawke to slip back into their characters with ease though, so I’m not worried. What do you think though? Is this a good idea or not? Let us know what you think about a ‘Before” trilogy!

    About Joey Magidson

When he’s not obsessing over new Oscar predictions on a weekly basis, Joey is seeing between 200 and 300 movies a year. He views the best in order to properly analyze the awards race/season each year, but he also watches the worst for reasons he mostly sums up as "so you all don't have to". In his spare time, you can usually find him complaining about the Jets or the Mets. Still, he lives and dies by film. Joey's a voting member of the Internet Film Critics Association as well. Today the IFCA, tomorrow the world!
