How do you feel about a preliminary Golden Globes-type announcement mid-way through ACCA 2000?
We would reveal the results next Friday in Drama and Musical/Comedy categories and then the official ACCA nominations on July 6th. A special group of readers will be selected to vote on the winners of the Preliminary ACCA categories.

I think it could work because unlike the globes people on this site wil choose based on quality and not STAR POWER

I don’t know, it could be sort of interesting to see a broader, less serious approach into our own community accolade but at the same time, what would be the point? The staff picks for every year sort of do that job, and then there is the silver highlights which sort of bring a second opinion into the mix. But again this could be interesting to say the least.

I would not be opposed to it. But there should be some sort of decent way to decide what belongs in Drama and what belongs in Comedy/Musical.

Dancer in the Dark is a musical not a DRAMA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

To be honest, I actually think the way ACCA is now is fine. I don’t think it’s a bad idea, but I don’t think we need too many changes. It also seems like a step to mold it into the actual Oscar race, and to me the appeal of ACCA is in its simplicity. I was in favor of the extra categories, but outside of that, I think it’s fine the way it is.
