The Emmys, even more so than the Oscars, are strangely predictable; once the TV Academy likes a show or actor they continue to nominate them over and over. It’s the reason Mad Men, Modern Family and 30 Rock will be in contention again, and why Mariska Hargitay will never be far from the Emmy spotlight. What then to make of upstarts like HomelandDownton Abbey, Girls, Revenge, and New Girl? Or overlooked shows like Community? The acting races seem even tighter than usual, especially in the comedy categories with shows like Happy Endings and Parks and Recreation trying to break through in the crowded supporting categories.  It’ll be interesting to see what shows and which actors land nominations tomorrow, so without further ado here are my predictions!

    1. Interesting predictions, but I have a feeling – maybe I’m just being optimistic – that the Emmys will come to their senses and embrace Louie and Community, dropping New Girl and 30 Rock. The latter show has to be wearing thin by now… I also think that despite obvious category fraud, Elizabeth McGovern will take Michelle Dockery’s rightful nomination for Best Actress. Also, I’m pretty sure So You Think You Can Dance and Survivor will be replaced by The Voice (won Critics Choice) and Project Runway (still an Emmy fave). Other than that, we agree! Cannot wait until tomorrow!

    2. Pretty much. A little skeptical by the Girls Best Comedy show prediction but no acting categories? Interesting.

    3. I think they’d reward Louie before Community because even though it’s abrasive they “get” it more than Community.

I just have a slight inkling that they’ll find someway to put Girls in Best Comedy.

Now I would be so happy if 30 Rock was absent from the Emmys completely…

    4. I can’t imagine any other actress winning Best Actress for mini series or TV movie other than Julianne Moore. She was simply brilliant in one of the best performances of the year, TV or movie, period.

    5. Hard to argue with those drama picks. Too bad they won’t go for Justified.
I’d love to see Louie get in!
