Despite the issues that I had with ‘Beasts of the Southern Wild’, easily the best part of that flick was the lead performance of young actress Quvenzhane Wallis. She’s certainly someone to watch, and it looks like she’ll soon be appearing in a very high profile Oscar contender next year, the film ‘Twelve Years A Slave’. The Playlist is reporting here that she’s joined the cast of Steve McQueen’s highly anticipated film and you can see in the image above/to your right that she’s already on set and performing with the likes of Chiwetel Ejifor. After the jump you can see who she’s co-starring with, but it seems like every month this movie gets more and more interesting to me. I really can’t wait to see it. Read on below for Wallis’ cohorts in the flick…

The Playlist has the rundown of the cast besides the aforementioned Wallis and star Ejifor:

…the cast also includes McQueen’s regular collaborator Michael Fassbender, megastar Brad Pitt, Scoot McNairy, Benedict Cumberbatch, Paul Giamatti, Paul Dano, Sarah Paulson, Garret Dillahunt, Ruth Negga, Taran Killam, Adepero Oduye, Alfre Woodard and Michael K. Williams, making it probably the single 2013 release that we’re most excited about.

    About Joey Magidson

When he’s not obsessing over new Oscar predictions on a weekly basis, Joey is seeing between 200 and 300 movies a year. He views the best in order to properly analyze the awards race/season each year, but he also watches the worst for reasons he mostly sums up as "so you all don't have to". In his spare time, you can usually find him complaining about the Jets or the Mets. Still, he lives and dies by film. Joey's a voting member of the Internet Film Critics Association as well. Today the IFCA, tomorrow the world!

    1. Without a shadow of a doubt, this is my most anticipated movie of 2013. The cast lineup is too good to be true, but it is!

    3. You know I didn’t realize Scoot McNairy was also in the film. Been a big fan of his since In Search of a Midnight Kiss, pretty happy to see him come so far, I love seeing people work hard through the indie ranks and come up to the big leagues.
Dwight Henry is also cast in the film according to IMDb.
