  • Emma Stone to star in Cameron Crowe’s next film!

The project will be an original screenplay of Crowe's too...

    August 4, 2012

Anyone who likes Cameron Crowe as much as I do will be thrilled with this latest news that hit a few days ago. I enjoyed ‘We Bought a Zoo’ more than I probably should have, and I’ll defend ‘Elizabethtown’ to the grave, but I’ve been hankering for another top notch Crowe flick, and The Hollywood Reporter is saying here that I might just get another chance at that next year. Crowe has a new original screenplay set up at Sony, and he has Emma Stone set to take the lead female role. Apparently they’re now searching for a leading man, and after the jump I’ll propose a few names that I’d like to see the filmmaker pair Stone with. There’s no word on the plot right now, but I’m sure we’ll find out about that soon enough (it might even be a new version of a Hawaii-set flick he’d wanted to make with Ben Stiller and Reese Witherspoon a few years back, if you go by some of the rumors). See the names I’d like to have in contention for the lead part below…

Of course, Emma Stone has great chemistry with Andrew Garfield, and Sony is working with them both on the new Spider-Man franchise, but that’s a little too perfect to actually happen. As for other gentlemen I’d like Crowe to work with, they include Paul Dano, James Franco (who nearly starred in ‘Elizabethtown’), Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Ryan Gosling (who did a fine job with Stone on ‘Crazy, Stupid, Love.’), Emile Hirsch, or Anton Yelchin. Stay tuned for Crowe’s choice in the coming weeks, but suffice to say it likely won’t be any of these guys. Just wishful thinking on my part, but hey…one can dream.

    About Joey Magidson

When he’s not obsessing over new Oscar predictions on a weekly basis, Joey is seeing between 200 and 300 movies a year. He views the best in order to properly analyze the awards race/season each year, but he also watches the worst for reasons he mostly sums up as "so you all don't have to". In his spare time, you can usually find him complaining about the Jets or the Mets. Still, he lives and dies by film. Joey's a voting member of the Internet Film Critics Association as well. Today the IFCA, tomorrow the world!
