The Stand is going to be a huge project that will eat up Affleck’s schedule and pretty much kill this prospect. I’m certain of it.

I’m not sure it’s a true step backwards, and it does somewhat fit in with his interest in a large scale project to tackle (i.e. The Stand). Still, I don’t expect him to actually accept…

Oh I hope not — he is so fine a director now with his dark, brooding films — why go in a direction so different only because they want him to do so??? With Gone Baby Gone and The Town he has established himself as one of the more promising American filmmakers and there is no reason to think Argo will be any less than his previous work — why go backwards???
