On Wednesday, we presented you with the full soundtrack listing to Jonny Greenwood’s score for The Master. Now we bring you the first track from the album to listen to: ‘Application 45 Version 1.’ It is as eerie and indelible as you may remember from the trailer it first appeared in, and is reminiscent of Greenwood’s magnificent work on Paul Thomas Anderson’s There Will Be Blood. The soundtrack will be available on September 11th.

The Master screened in Chicago last night and has received pretty outstanding early reviews, and similar to Anderson’s There Will Be Blood, most are saying a second viewing will be necessary to take everything in. Don’t some of the best movies require that? I’m beginning to think PTA could be this generation’s Stanley Kubrick. But I’ll save more on that for another time. The Master will hit theatres a bit wider on September 14th.

    Have a listen to Greenwood’s ‘Application 45 Version 1′ after the jump…

    About Mark Johnson

Lover of all things film and Oscar. Fantasy sports’ equivalent of George Steinbrenner. Your very own Han Solo, making friends all over the movie-loving galaxy in spite of himself. When he’s not ranking just about everything or dominating boardgames, Mark is breaking down the Oscar race 24/7 with Rain Man-like stats and knowledge. In his downtime, you can find him commiserating with other Northeast Ohio sports fans because a hero isn’t complete without a little heartbreak. If Lost, Homeland, Breaking Bad, Mad Men and Survivor are your style, then congratulations, you have something in common with this inglourious basterd.
