Regardless of what one might think about the remake of the classic horror movie Carrie (I, for one, am not a fan), the modernized version of the classic Stephen King tale is indeed going to happen. Thanks to Chloe Moretz’ instagram and Entertainment Weekly we get our first look at the mother-daughter combo of Moretz and Julianne Moore. It will be interesting to see the reception these pics, and ultimately the film will get considering the last Carrie remake was awful. In any case, these photos give us a good look at the main players so take a gander after the jump!

Oh for chrissakes, maybe they should do a remake of The Shining and have Michelle Rodriguez play Wendy Torrance? I mean, since they think it’s a good idea to cast one of the most confident and assertive teen actresses in Hollywood as a shy outcast…

Exactly. Of all the actresses to cast Chloe would be my last choice. She’s never lacked for confidence.
I am also opposed in general to remaking classic/Oscar nominated films and since this is in my top 100 films of all time I loathe the idea.

I mean God forbid we hire our actresses to do what they are paid to do, act. I don’t know where these “most confident and assertive teen actresses” comments come from. She played the vampire lead in “Let Me In” and that performance was the complete opposite of what a “confident and assertive” actress would play, right?
I agree though, that remakes after remakes after remakes of superhero films is really starting to drag the industry down from a creative level angle, but let’s see. “Let Me In” and “The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo” we both remakes that had me fuming as well, but won my heart at the end.

GL, you win Comment of the Day for the epic snark of your first sentence.
Kidding aside, you make a good point, and I certainly wouldn’t put it past Chloe Moretz to give her all in this part. However, like Emma Stone commenting on her “complete lack of allure” in Easy A or Keira Knightley throwin’ down on the battlefield as a warrior Guinevere, some roles just aren’t suited for certain types of actors, and personally I wouldn’t compare her performance in Let Me In to what’s demanded of her here at all. The decision to cast her strikes me as such an obvious “Hey, she’s popular right now!” rather than who could actually sell us on a meek, bullied teen girl.
