I agree with you that Season 3 was the worst season. I hated Jimmy Smitts character, he was so annoying and I almost wish he’d been killed much sooner. Lithgows Trinity Killer was so fantastic and I agree Julia Stiles was amazing as Lumen.

I agree that The Trinity Killer was the best season of Dexter. John Lithgow was so good being evil that you almost felt bad for his character. But Season 4 is my favorite season so far.

Now that I’m on season 6 I can talk to you about it. I did enjoy Season 5 and I’m currently on season 6 and I liked both… Season 1 I loved, I loved Season 2 even more… I loved how Dexter killedLila, it was so sexy and intimate. Season 3 was by far the worst season. Jimmy Smits character was so annoying and I wish he had been killed sooner. Season 4 is the best season of Dexter. The Trinity Killer character was amazing. I enjoyed Season 5 with the inclusion of Julia Stiles and i’m halfway through season 6 and while I’m enjoying it, and sort of waiting for more to happen.

That’s my favorite show on television right now, second favorite of all-time after The Sopranos. To me, there’s only been one bad season: Season 3 with Jimmy Smitts. That story arc didn’t do it for me. Agree about Lithgow’s Trinity killer as Dexter’s greatest nemesis. Also, Julia Stiles shows off the best of her acting abilities to date as Lumen in Season 5. Jennifer Carpenter needs an Emmy nom — pronto — for being the most real, believable woman on television as Debra Morgan. Glad your getting into this show, Anna!

Dexter is a guilty pleasure of mine. The Trinity Killer season (Lithgow) was the best of the group, but even when Dexter is bad, it is still a lot of fun.

The first four seasons are probably some of the best television ever made. The last two are kind of awful, minus a few saving graces.
