It’s time to visit the week that was via our Around the Circuit piece, where we look back at articles that we feel are worth your time covering the Oscar race, new releases, or really just anything film related.

    Link(s) of the week:

After the big announcement that AMPAS would be moving up certain key dates, Pete Hammond at Deadline broke down how these changes might affect the awards season. Jon Weisman at Variety chimed in here. Anthony Breznican at Entertainment Weekly had some thoughts on this issue, as did Sasha Stone at Awards Daily.

Following the festivals at Venice, Telluride and Toronto, Kris Tapley at In Contention gives us three films to bank on for Oscar consideration.

Scott Feinberg at The Hollywood Reporter begins his weekly Feinberg Forecast – his Oscar race assessment. Look for it every Sunday.

Rope of Silicon’s Brad Brevet gives us his first post-TIFF Oscar analysis, though his first “official” predictions will start on the 24th. He also breaks down the relationship of The Master to Scientology, defending the film against those who might feel offended by this comparison.

    About Mark Johnson

Lover of all things film and Oscar. Fantasy sports’ equivalent of George Steinbrenner. Your very own Han Solo, making friends all over the movie-loving galaxy in spite of himself. When he’s not ranking just about everything or dominating boardgames, Mark is breaking down the Oscar race 24/7 with Rain Man-like stats and knowledge. In his downtime, you can find him commiserating with other Northeast Ohio sports fans because a hero isn’t complete without a little heartbreak. If Lost, Homeland, Breaking Bad, Mad Men and Survivor are your style, then congratulations, you have something in common with this inglourious basterd.
