I am actually of the opposite perspective when it comes to Survivor, as far as returning players. Nothing disappoints me more than when they mix players from the past with rookies. Seeing returning players is what All-Stars seasons are for (which I also dislike). The true nature of the game, IMO, is to have 16-24 people who are complete strangers being forced to battle the elelments and each other, while having to lay enough trust in each other to stay in the game. Survivor is at its best when it keeps the game simple, IMO. When they do things like exile island, redemption island, pre-merge mix-ups, celebrities, and returning players, it only shows how much this beloved show of ours has jumped the shark. Last season brought us one of the best in recent memory, including winner Kim Spradlin, who I would rank in the top 10 to ever play the game.

That being said, if you are going to return players, they better be good. Michael was a great choice, of course, and as much as I like Jonathan, how many times are you going to let a guy who was never really that good play the game? Russell was one of the worst decisions in recent memory as far as I'm concerned.

My early pick to win matches up with yours for now (Malcolm), though I am not rooting for him. Too soon to tell who has their head on straght, but I seemed to like most of the people on Skupin's tribe, so I'll be rooting for them for now until I see a major contender rise.

Looking forward to the season, even if I am unhappy about celebrities and returnees. It is still Survivor, after all.
