I think Marion Cotillard will have the most buzz in December, just a few weeks after "Rust & Bone" is released and fresh of her second "The Hollywood actress award" (Yeah she already started making history by being the only actress to win it twice and the only one to win it in a foreign language, twice too). It's tactically the perfect moment to release "Rust & Bone" just before the academy start to vote. A lot of people will see it by then. I think it's impossible for her not be nominated because Sony P.C has their best shot with her. After all she is an already an Oscar winner, a big star and she has already confirmed that she's a very talented actress (Public Enemies, Nine, Inception, Midnight in Paris...) She also has made one of the best post-Oscar career in Hollywood with "The Nightingale" and "Blood Ties" still to come. In only five years she became the biggest European actress and let's be honest she is praised by some of the most amazing directors and actors of our generation such as James Gray, Christopher Nolan, woody Allen or even Johnny Depp and Leonardo DiCaprio. I always had a crush on Marion but even my boyfriend (He is not at all a fan of Cotillard, he thinks she's fine and hates foreign movies) was completely astonished by the movie and her performance! Personally I saw "The silver linings playbook", "Rust and Bone", "Smashed", "Amour", "Anna Karenina" and "The beast of S-W". 5 month after seeing "Rust & Bone" for the first time in Belgium, her performance still haunt me! And like i said before ;
lots of strong sex scenes + Anger crisis + lots of crying + no legs/wheelchair + No makeup + one the best European director = Academy-caliber!

Response to your predictions

1. They never mind making some wait. Look at Kate Winslet.
2. Definitely see Hawkes winning easy.
3. I don't think he has it in the bag. He's won before. They could wait for something else especially if they don't warm up to The Master.
4. Sounds about right but you gotta throw Les Miserables in there.
