Today I highlight an underrated fright flick from down under...

    October 10, 2012

Got a hankering for some horror on DVD? Of course you do, and my terror themed companion piece to the normal DVD column again seeks to highlight some scary movies you can enjoy from the comfort and relative safety of your own home. This week’s selection is an underrated film that got lost in the shuffle to a degree when the extreme “torture porn” (though I dispute that term found here) was all the rage, but it’s perhaps the best of that lot. It’s ‘Wolf Creek’, an Australian horror movie that also happens to be uncannily beautiful. It’s a brutal film though, so be warned. ‘Wolf Creek’ is really good, but again…not for the easily disturbed. You can see the original Trailer for the flick after the jump, but make sure you watch some horror movies this week and check out the rest of our 31 Days of Horror here at The Awards Circuit! Check out the video below…

    About Joey Magidson

When he’s not obsessing over new Oscar predictions on a weekly basis, Joey is seeing between 200 and 300 movies a year. He views the best in order to properly analyze the awards race/season each year, but he also watches the worst for reasons he mostly sums up as "so you all don't have to". In his spare time, you can usually find him complaining about the Jets or the Mets. Still, he lives and dies by film. Joey's a voting member of the Internet Film Critics Association as well. Today the IFCA, tomorrow the world!

    1. Great choice Joey, i’ve watched it so many times since first seeing it in the cinema and it really holds up in my opinion to repeated viewings mainly thanks to the great cinematography. As you say, beautiful and brutal.

    2. I agree. Very underrated horror film that emphasizes the “horrific” part of the horror genre instead of just the “scary” part.
