  • Bryan Singer’s Jack and the Beanstalk Adaptation Gets New Title, Release Date

The fairy tale retelling receives a family-friendly tweak

    October 18, 2012

One of the latest fairy tales to receive a film adaptation, Bryan Singer’s version of Jack and the Beanstalk, has a newly confirmed title and release date.  Previously titled Jack the Giant Killer, the film will now be called Jack the Giant Slayer, in an attempt at sounding  a bit less harsh for the intended PG-13 audience.

Starring Nicholas Hoult in the title role, the tale tells of a young man who unintentionally stirs up old tensions between the world of men and giants.    Previously slated for March 22, 2013, the film’s release has been moved up the March 1 date recently vacated by Disctict 9 director, Neil Blomkamp’s, much-anticipated follow-up, Elysium.

Ewan McGregor, Stanley Tucci, Ian McShane and Bill Nighy also star in the fantasy-adventure flick.

    About Nicole Melkonian

The first rule of film criticism is: you most definitely DO talk about film. An unassuming gladiator in the arena, this Space Monkey asks the important questions: Are you not entertained? Who's Zed? Are you an achiever? Initially well-versed in English literature, Nicole picked up movie quotes as a second tongue to marry together her deep-rooted appreciation for language and film. When not tallying Brad Pitt's countless and marvelously resonant instances of on-screen eating, your very own Remy is experimenting with exciting new recipes from Gusteau's cookbook. And when I have some more spare time? What am I doing? I'm quietly judging film. A disagreement, you say? Well, that's just, like, your opinion, man.
