One of the latest fairy tales to receive a film adaptation, Bryan Singer’s version of Jack and the Beanstalk, has a newly confirmed title and release date. Previously titled Jack the Giant Killer, the film will now be called Jack the Giant Slayer, in an attempt at sounding a bit less harsh for the intended PG-13 audience.
Starring Nicholas Hoult in the title role, the tale tells of a young man who unintentionally stirs up old tensions between the world of men and giants. Previously slated for March 22, 2013, the film’s release has been moved up the March 1 date recently vacated by Disctict 9 director, Neil Blomkamp’s, much-anticipated follow-up, Elysium.
Ewan McGregor, Stanley Tucci, Ian McShane and Bill Nighy also star in the fantasy-adventure flick.
