It’s funny that the predictions for all these awards are made so early on, and then later, there are complaints of the Oscars being so ‘predictable and boring’…

I don’t know about the Oscars, but I can see ‘Les Miserables’ sweeping the BAFTAs (the Brits have a love affair of sorts with that show), and also performing admirably well at the Golden Globes. Also, it seems that Anne H has more screen-time in ‘Les Mis’ than we anticipated (Fantine’s ruination seems to be displayed to its complete extent, plus there’s her song too). For supporting actress, it could be Hathaway v/s Hunt v/s Adams (but Hunt has already won once, and Adams been nominated three times before; therefore, she has a stronger chance). However, if Hathaway’s rendition of ‘I Dreamed a Dream’ is any indication of her overall performance in the film…

I agree, Hoffman could very well miss the Globe nomination. But even “There Will Be Blood” didn’t make a huge dent in either Golden Globe or SAG nominations yet tied with “No Country for Old Men” as the most nominated film of that year. I still think the die hard fans of “The Master” will push it through in many top categories (a la “The Tree of Life”) but it’s too polarizing to win anything.

The wrong predictions went up before.

The ones with Philip Seymour Hoffman are up. (in SAG category)

I think Hoffman could miss Golden Globe because the reception for “The Master” might not be as popular with HFPA.

I find it a little odd that you are currently predicting Philip Seymour Hoffman to be nominated for “The Master” yet do not think he’ll be nominated for a Golden Globe or SAG Award.

Rust & Bone just won the best film award at BFI. I know you don’t predict the Bafta but Jacques Audiard could become the first and so far only triple BAFTA winner for Best film not in English. And That also means that Marion Cotillard is lock for best actress there and certainly the front-runner right now there.
