Among the big news announced today was the nominees for the International Documentary Association awards, which honor the best in documentary film. Central Park Five, Queen of Versailles, The Invisible War, Searching for Sugarman and Women With Cows lead the charge in Best Documentary Feature, while Oscar winner Saving Face will once again compete for a Documentary Short award against 3 other films short-listed for Oscars last year. This is certainly a great way to see what might be the films in contention for Best Documentary Oscar. Joseph quite liked Queen of Versailles when he saw it at the LA FIlm Festival and we spoke about Searching for Sugar Man on the latest Power Hour podcast, so it will be interesting to see how those films fare against The Invisible War and Central Park Five, the latter of which has been getting raves following its festival stops.
