Terence Malick’s latest film, To the Wonder, played at the Venice and Toronto film festivals this year, and now we are finally getting a look at this first beautiful trailer. The film, as it seems to be with all Malick’s movies, looks stunning, thanks in large part to the great Emmanuel Lubezki’s cinematography. The early reviews have been divisive, which is also a commonality with Malick films. To the Wonder stars Ben Affleck, Javier Bardem, Rachel McAdams, and Olga Kurylenko, and opens in the US on April 12th.

Another chance for Emmanuel Lubezki to be snubbed for an Oscar.

I know. Gross.

Looks pretty good. Maybe a little too much cut from the same cloth as The Tree of Life, but I’ll definitely go to see it.

Unfortunately, this looks similar to The Tree of Life. Great trailer, great cinematography, great score, and bad movie. I bet while Malick was directing, Affleck was thinking to himself “Really guy? Really?”

Another Malick masterpiece I can’t wait to devour. March can’t come fast enough.

You know, a Malick film is like reading a classic juggernaut of a book. The sight of the pages will make you cringe, but one you start you can’t stop. Malick in this case is so organic with his material, and Emmanuel Lubezki is just a GENIUS. Possibly the best cinematography for 2013.
The reviews seemed to cite the complete lack of audience relation that “Tree of Life” encompassed. I remember reading one critic saying how Malick’s direction seemed to borderline “creepy” as he seemed linger on Kurylenko far too long.

Can you blame him?

It’s strange how so many people couldn’t relate to Tree, while so many others felt drawn to it. Put me in the camp that was completing absorbed by the movie.

It certainly looks like a Malick movie, I’ll give it that…

Malick only tries to change your life with his films. Thank God he gets to keep making real artistic movies and never has to sell out or pander to anyone.
