No other category has given me more ulcers than Best Actor. As the Davis Award citations continue daily, my personal ballot for Lead Actor has been updated. I know many of you will find faults and will sing the praises for other actors but that’s what our comment section is for. Include your personal ballot and what is it about those performers that do it for you. You can click HERE or go to the MENU and go under EDITORIALS.

You missed on Best Actor – That is Hugh Jackman and the scene that proves it – The opening look with all its vengeance towards Javert and “Who Am I” sung into the mirror and the death scene … almost too many to name. He blows all the other so called actors and that includes DDL out of the water.

A close 6th doesn’t take away that he had a great year. Oscar should notice him though.

Unfortunately, he makes genius look easy. Other actors “act”, he just becomes and makes everyone around him look even better. He saves mediocre films by doing more with one lifted eyebrow than most actors can do with their whole bodies. This is the year to recognize that talent.

I agree that Phoenix and Hoffman are really co-leads, so with that said my nominees are:
Bradley Cooper – Silver Linings Playbook
Daniel Day-Lewis – Lincoln
Philip Seymour Hoffman – The Master
Liam Neeson – The Grey
Joaquin Phoenix – The Master
I haven’t seen many more foreign films this year and that includes Amour but as of now those are the performance that really stuck with me. The physicality of Neeson’s role mixed with the emotion impressed me and I think it’s his best performance since Schindler’s List.

Cooper,Hoffman,Phoenix, and Tringnant deserve to be there, but Logan Lerman instead of Hugh Jackman???Scene that proves it: Any scene with him!

what no daniel day-lewis for best actor in your stupid awards? god help you.

Hey some love for the underrated Logan Lerman in Perks. Young actors get short shrift when the best should be considered along with their older counterparts. I would have placed DDL instead of Cooper however, in my list. He was masterful as Lincoln. Also move PSH to supporting and include Denzel Washington for Flight
