Costume Designers Guild Awards Nominations Announced

anna

The nominations for the 15th Annual Costume Designers Guild (CDG) Awards have been announced. The awards honor excellence in costume design throughout movies, television, and commercials, with the winners to be unveiled on Tuesday, February 19th, 2013. Being that the CDG divides their film awards into three categories (fantasy, contemporary, and period), it should be no surprise to learn that all five films nominated for Oscar’s Best Costume Design are nominated here. Lover of all things film and Oscar. Fantasy sports’ equivalent of George Steinbrenner. Your very own Han Solo, making friends all over the movie-loving galaxy in spite of himself. When he’s not ranking just about everything or dominating boardgames, Mark is breaking down the Oscar race 24/7 with Rain Man-like stats and knowledge. In his downtime, you can find him commiserating with other Northeast Ohio sports fans because a hero isn’t complete without a little heartbreak. If Lost, Homeland, Breaking Bad, Mad Men and Survivor are your style, then congratulations, you have something in common with this inglourious basterd.

solid nominees for the most part…kinda bummed Janie Bryant wasn’t nominated for Mad Men, but the noms for that category are definitely deserved.

I love how the guild nominates excellent costumes in the Contemporary category that will NEVER get recognition by the Academy who drools when they see golden puffs and high collars (The Young Victoria, anyone?)
