  • American Idol Results – Who’s in the Top 10?

Power Rankings are also listed....Who is being set up to win the competition?

    March 7, 2013

kree-harrison-idol-650-430The results show tonight was a little weird.  Host Ryan Seacrest announced to the contestants backstage if they had made the Top 10 in a closed out green room where the audience and the judges could not hear.  After they were announced as a part of the Top 10, they would sing their “victory” song.

For the boys, Paul Jolley was announced first.  Surprised?  You bet I am.  After a decent version of “Just a Fool,” I didn’t think Jolley had a strong enough fanbase to put him through.  I was wrong.   Jolley sang “Alone” by Heart.  Keith Urban praised it.  I thought, like all his other performances, it was overdone.

Burnell Taylor was next and to no one’s surprise since he’s my single favorite male contestant this season.  After the crowd went wild, Burnell sang “Ready for Love” by India Arie.  Again, Burnell’s diction and tone is simply incredible.

Ryan goes back stage and announces Curtis Finch, Jr. has made the Top 10.  Ugh.  He sings “So High” by John Legend.  Double ugh.  CFJ will need to put on a likability factor soon if he wants to make the Top 5.

Our latin sensation Devin Velez is next and his mother goes crazy.  Devin deserved it.  He sings “The Power of One” by Israel Houghton and I’m not really a fan.  He can become a little old-fashioned if this continues.  Nicki advises him to keep his Spanglish thing going.  I completely disagree.  White America will get tired of that quick.

burnell-taylor-american-idolFinally, the last person in the Top 10 is Lazaro Arbos.  Whoa! Over Vincent Powell?  First time since Lilly Scott’s shocking elimination that a pimp spot didn’t advance through to the finals.  I knew Lazaro was a lock but I think Paul Jolley might have stolen Vincent’s spot.  Lazaro sings “Bridge Over Troubled Waters” and it’s not good at all.  Before he even goes on stage, he tells the music director that he doesn’t know the last note.  Ummm…perhaps you shouldn’t say that on national television.

    The girls are up next.

First girl in the Top 10 is…the person who auditioned three times….Janelle Arthur.  Wow.  I thought for sure it was between Janelle and Aubrey Cleland for the fifth spot.  The fact that announced her this early makes me think we’re in for another shocker.  Janelle sings “Home” by Dierks Bentley.  Eh…not impressed yet.  I still think Janelle has massive potential.  She’s a more confident version of Lauren Alaina which could bode well.

Next person in the Top 10 is Candice Glover.  Hell yeah.  Her “Ordinary People” the other night was sensational.  She’s in tears as Randy gives her props.  She sings Mary J. Blige’s “I’m Going Down” and oh my God, she is KILLING it on stage.  This girl is something special.  She could be one of next great artists if given the right songs and marketed correctly.  Mandisa 2.0?  Maybe, but better.

The third person is Angela “Angie” Miller.  She’s in tears back stage.  Holy crap, Keith Urban is crying after her performance of “I’m Here” by Beyoncé.  He says she’s what this show is all about.  Angie is one of the frontrunners and if she can sustain, she could easily win the whole competition.

I’m getting worried…Amber and Kree are backstage and they should have sailed through to the next round.  Are they setting us up for something unspeakable?

    Possible "Wild Card?"

    Possible “Wild Card?”

Next up is Amber Holcomb.  She’s excited.  She sings “I’m Every Woman” and it’s rough.  Hopefully this will be her one bad performance that she got out of her system.  Karaoke song.

Ryan’s backstage.  The final spot…in the Top 10…goes to….Kree Harrison!  Thank God!  I would have boycotted the entire show.  She comes out and sings something up tempo.  I don’t know what it is but it’s good.  Kree for the win!!!

Ryan announces at the end of the show that the runner-up guy and the runner-up girl will compete for a spot on the American Idol tour next week.  Not sure if they will continue in the competition or not.  I guess more details will follow.

Next week’s theme is “Songs from American Idol Winners” – so pretty much Kelly Clarkson and Carrie Underwood songs.  I imagine perhaps one David Cook number Amber (hopefully not) will sing something from Fantasia like “I Believe.”  Don’t do it honey.

Check back for more #Idol commentary next week!

    1. Your top 2 is my prediction for the finale as of today.
But I feel whoever the judges go for the other will get the shock boot
Example: The Judges go for Angie therefore Kree gets the shock boot or vice-versa

Who is your predicted shock boot for this season?

    2. Looks like it’s going to be great heading into the rounds with the final 10 contestants on American Idol. I enjoy watching all the latest primetime shows once I get them recorded. The only thing I hate’s I work at DISH during primetime. My families never happy I tie up all the TVs recording shows, which can be a huge pain. I no longer have this problem after I upgraded to the DISH Hopper DVR. I can enable the PrimeTime Anytime feature to record the 4 major networks during primetime hours every night on one tuner. No more of my timer conflicts and it will allow everyone to continue watching TV without any issues. I love how this has enhanced everyone’s experience and it’s become one of m favorite features.
