Today kicks off Oscar Madness at the Awards Circuit. Yesterday, we released the bracket (which you can download>>>>Oscar_Madness, and will be updated after every round) and there are four spots open on the 64 film tournament of Best Picture winners.
25 films sit on our 12 seed poll and voting is open today where you will choose four films to fill in the last four spots. Cutting 85 films down to 64 is not easy task and we need your help. Voting will be open until Saturday with the results being revealed on the Awards Circuit Power Hour, our entertainment podcast this Sunday.
Make your passionate plea down in the comment section (remember these are only for Best Picture WINNERS) and we look forward to what will become a yearly tradition here at the Awards Circuit. The poll is after the jump.

Mrs. Miniver, Gentleman’s Agreement for sure … but we are kind of scraping the bottom of the barrel here for Best Picture choices. How Green Was My Valley better not get in … it can be never be forgiven for taking the spot Citizen Kane should rightly have.

I’m pulling for A Gentleman’s Agreement to get in as well. I wouldn’t worry about How Green Was My Valley, I think most people resent it for beating Kane as well. Happy voting!

If Terms of Endearment misses out…

Terms of Endearment was the first one I saw that I knew was definitely going to get my vote. I would have thought it would be a 5 or 6 seed. In my opinion the only best picture winners from the 80s that are just as good or better is Amadeus and Platoon.

I think it is the most likely to get in. But make sure you vote!!

Terms of Endearment and Braveheart should have been in to begin with!

Vote for The Last Emperor so underrated. Don’t vote for Gentleman’s Agreement, so heavy handed and even Elia Kazan said the film was underwhelming.

A Beautiful Mind is my favorite of the ones left off. It truly is well written, excellently directed by Ron Howard. Russell Crowe should have won best actor. Ed Harris should have been nominated for supporting actor. Jennifer Connelly deserved her Oscar.

Around the World in 80 Days and Oliver! better get in. Those are both better than half of all the best Picture winners. Tom Jones, Going My Way, and Gigi are all classics as well.

I could be wrong but isn’t Around the World in 80 Days widely considered to be the worst best picture winner ever? I’m with you on Oliver! though, it seems to get a lot of flak as well but I like it.

No. That’s The Greatest Show on Earth.

You’re right. I knew it was one of those from the 1950s that had a long title.

I really don’t understand how Crash isn’t in this bottom bracket but Terms of Endearment is? Can someone explain how that was chosen over Crash?

A little birdie told me that you’ll get an explanation on the podcast this sunday…

Blame Braverman.

Poor You Can’t Take It With You. It’s one of my top five personal favorite best picture winners and its not even going to make it into the actual contest. I guess people just think it’s old and cheesy, but I think it’s great….so vote for it!

Was there a podcast this past Sunday? (Sorry if I just don’t see it.) I voted for Gentleman’s Agreement, Grand Hotel, Man for All Seasons, and King’s Speech because those are the films I liked the best of the ones on the list. I didn’t like Beautiful Mind as much as I expected to, and I think I didn’t see all of Terms of Endearment because the videotape broke.
Sorry if you hate me for the King’s Speech vote because it edged out Social Network. I liked Social Network, too, and lost an Oscar pool by one point because I picked Fincher over Hooper.

No, not this past Sunday. Took a week off. We’re back this Sunday for Power Hour!

I thought Around the World in 80 Days was considered a bad winner, too. In an Oscar book with all the winners, it said that 1956 was one of the worst years for movies. I didn’t see the film and only know of it because of the Mike Todd connection. (Liz Taylor’s husband)

The Last Emperor is an underrated Best Picture that people need to check out. It stinks that The King’s Speech has gotten this reputation as a “bad” Best Picture winner. I prefer that over Crash any day. Yes, it did beat the other great films, but it’s not a bad movie either.
Braveheart is a classic. It seems a little crazy that it made it to the top at the time. But, it is a movie that is often parodied and recognized than most films from the nineties.
All the King’s Men is solid winner to me. As well as Terms of Endearment and A Beautiful Mind
. The rest of the mentioned Best Pictures on the poll I can say are the least memorable BP winners. Not denouncing them as bad, but there could’ve been a better choice.

I don’t disagree with anything you said.
