This drama based on Alice Munro’s 2001 book of short stories called Hateship, Friendship, Courtship, Loveship, Marriage is set to screen at Toronto Film Festival. (A story from this same book was adapted in Sarah Polley’s feature directorial debut Away from Her in 2006.) Johnson’s previous film, Return (2011) starring Linda Cardellini, Michael Shannon, John Slattery, earned Cardellini an Independent Spirit Award nomination for her performance.
