What are Quentin Tarantino’s Top Ten Films of 2013 so far?

Levon-Biss_Quentin-Tarantino_071212-2890_V1Quentin Tarantino is a one of a kind sort of guy, no one will argue that. Both indebted fully to the films he’s seen in his life as well as a distinctly original cinematic voice, there’s no one else like Quentin. So whenever we get a glimpse inside of his head, it’s always worth looking. Tarantino just recently put out what his ten favorite movies of the year so far are, and it’s a very unique bunch. It kind of sums up QT perfectly too. He has widely beloved films like Before Midnight and Gravity on his list, but he also has Kick-Ass 2 and The Lone Ranger. Yup, they’re on there. Take a look at all ten below (via The Quentin Tarantino Archives) and feel free to discuss why he loves these particular flicks…

Behold, though take into account that this is in alphabetical order:

1. Afternoon Delight (Jill Soloway)
2. Before Midnight (Richard Linklater)
3. Blue Jasmine (Woody Allen)
4. The Conjuring (James Wan)
5. Drinking Buddies (Joe Swanberg)
6. Frances Ha (Noah Baumbach)
7. Gravity (Alfonso Cuarón)
8. Kick Ass 2 (Jeff Wadlow)
9. The Lone Ranger (Gore Verbinski)
10. This Is The End (Seth Rogen, Evan Goldberg)

When he’s not obsessing over new Oscar predictions on a weekly basis, Joey is seeing between 200 and 300 movies a year. He views the best in order to properly analyze the awards race/season each year, but he also watches the worst for reasons he mostly sums up as "so you all don't have to". In his spare time, you can usually find him complaining about the Jets or the Mets. Still, he lives and dies by film. Joey's a voting member of the Internet Film Critics Association as well. Today the IFCA, tomorrow the world!

    Terence Johnson,

The lone ranger is an understandable choice given his age and love for westerns. It probably evoked feelings of nostalgia.

For example, I loved scooby doo as a kid and I liked the movie however I recognize it was not that good

      I suppose that’s possible…

For a filmmaker, I feel like this is a pretty terrible list. No, for anyone I feel like this is a pretty terrible list.
