Did you know that fans of Chris Pine called themselves “Pine Nuts”? How appropriate is that given the film that released this week? How exciting was the Golden Globes and Critic’s Choice Awards? Now, we have the SAG Awards and the, always exciting Oscars to look forward to! This week, ‘Lone Survivor‘ (Uni.) survived through most of the week before ‘Ride Along‘ (Uni.) jumped up to #1 on the daily charts. This week, on the international charts, ‘Frozen (2013)‘ continues to dominate, ‘The Wolf of Wall Street‘ (Par.) just behind it. In China, ‘Despicable Me 2‘ grossed over $15 million, South Korea behind it with ‘Byunhoin‘ grossing just over $5.6 million.
This week, ‘Lone Survivor‘ wiped out all over competition, pulling away from the rest of the films by an alarming amount. ‘Frozen‘ took #2, ‘The Wolf of Wall Street‘ at #3 and best picture Oscar nominee ‘American Hustle‘ (Sony) took #4, just ahead of new ‘The Legend of Hercules‘ (LG/S) at #5. ‘The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug‘ smoked into #6, Oscar snubbed ‘August: Osage County‘ (Wein.) jumped up to #7, ‘Saving Mr. Banks‘ (BV) down to #8, ‘Paranormal Activity: The Marked Ones‘ (Par.) taking a bigger tumble-down to #9, and the new romantic comedy ‘Her (2013)‘ (WB) surfaces at #10.
