Box Office Results (02.02.14)


hr_That_Awkward_Moment_4What a great way to start February! ‘The Wolf of Wall Street‘ (Par.) was the most popular film on the international charts, followed by ‘I, Frankenstein‘ (LGF) and then ‘Frozen (2013)‘ (BV). This week, on the daily charts, ‘Ride Along‘ (Uni.) claimed #1 until the Super Bowl froze over Sunday. January 2014 saw ‘Ride Along‘ at #1, ‘The Nut Job’ (ORF) at #2, ‘Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit’ (Par.) at #3, ‘Paranormal Activity: The Marked Ones‘ (Par.) at #4, and ‘The Legend of Hercules‘ (LG/S) at #5. ‘Devil’s Due‘ (Fox) scared into #6, ‘I, Frankenstein‘ manages to land at #7, ‘That Awkward Moment’ (Focus) flirts into #8, ‘Labor Day‘ (Par.) in at #9 and ‘Gimme Shelter‘ (RAtt.) takes #10.

This week, Kevin Hart goes for a ride with Ice Cube at #1, Mark Wahlberg and his boys rank at #2, ‘The Nut Job‘ comes in at #3, and Chris Pine skids in to #4. ‘Frozen‘ creeps in to #5, ‘I, Frankenstein‘ at #6, and Christian Bale leads his team of hustlers into #7. Leonardo DiCaprio recruits Jonah Hill for all sorts of mischief at #8, Meryl Streep and Julia Roberts battles out some family issues at #9, with the creepy pregnant woman in at #10.

This weekend, ‘Frozen‘ frosts up the charts to #2, ‘That Awkward Moment‘ makes it in to #3, knocking ‘The Nut Job‘ down to #5, and ‘Lone Survivor‘ falls down to #5. Chris Pine takes a hit down the charts, ‘Labor Day‘ (Par.)  manages to snag #7, just ahead of Bradley Cooper in curls, Leonardo on drugs, and the darker rendition of Frankenstein takes on #10. Remember to check around your theaters for any screening Oscar nominated films and documentaries. Meanwhile, ‘Scorned’ will be available on VOD on February 4th, ‘The LEGO Movie‘ and ‘The Monuments Men‘ will be in theaters on February 6th. As for Friday the 7th, there will be several limited releases, with the main attraction being the release of ‘Vampire Academy‘ in wide release.
