Oscar Circuit: Best Sound Editing

When shooting on set, most claim sound takes the longest to get ready and everyone is always “waiting on sound”, but many underestimate just how important sound is and how it affects the experience of the viewers. And of all the years where sound has created a reality for the viewers, at least half of the films this year were shot on green screens, which rendered ambience to the imagination. Thankfully, many of the best are nominated for the category of best achievement in sound editing, not to mention, all nominated have been nominated for the Golden Reel Award from the Motion Picture Sound Editors, USA (MPSE) this year.

The Nominees Are:

  • Captain Phillips‘ – Oliver Tarney

  • Gravity‘ – Glenn Freemantle

  • The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug‘ – Brent Burge and Chris Ward
