Awards Circuit Power Hour Episode 129: Final Oscar Voting Week, True or False, Academy Idol Top 11 Results

POWERHOUR_LOGO_NEW1Welcome to another edition of the Awards Circuit Power Hour, our weekly podcast diving deep into all things film, television, and entertainment.

We have a packed episode for you today starting with Academy Idol Top 11 results.  In Cast Ensemble week, which two films get the boot?  And do we use the save?

We go through some of the Oscar categories beginning with Supporting Actress.  Is Tilda Swinton about to happen for “Snowpiercer?”  Is Jessica Chastain really vulnerable for “A Most Violent Year?” Is Naomi Watts a real threat for “St. Vincent?”

ACE Eddies were announced.  What does this do for “Nightcrawler,” “Whiplash,” and even “Into the Woods?”

We have a True or False game for each of the writers regarding Bennett Miller, possible snubs, and surprise inclusions.  You can answer those in comment section.

*NOTE – From now on, if you have a question for us for Power Hour, you can either Tweet it with the hashtag #ACPowerHour OR you can leave it in the comment section of the newest episode.

Do you think that the “one-two punch” of ‘Mad Max: Fury Road’ and ‘The Revenant’ will likely result in Tom Hardy transitioning into being perceived as a bonafide movie star by the end of this year (as ‘Mad Max’ will likely be a strong box office success and it seems likely that he’ll at least pick up a ‘Best Supporting Actor’ nomination, and possible win, for ‘The Revenant’)?

    • Terence Johnson

I think that The Revenant will be much more about Leo than Tom, but an Oscar nomination never hurts on the way to movie stardom lol

I am not sold entirely on Mad Max being a strong box office success, but Hardy is taking the right kinds of projects on paper to elevate himself

Thank you Terrance for making me realize that i’m not the only one who thought Interstellar was… not good.
