Mahershala Ali in Talks for ‘Triple Frontier’ With Channing Tatum, Tom Hardy

Triple Frontier

Current Oscar nominee Mahershala Ali is already booking his next project. The “Moonlight” actor is in talks to join the action film “Triple Frontier.”

Channing Tatum and Tom Hardy are already on board the project. Charles Roven and Alex Gartner of Atlas Entertainment are producing, as is screenwriter Mark Boal. Boal previously produced and wrote the screenplays for “The Hurt Locker” and “Zero Dark Thirty.” Next up he has Kathryn Bigelow’s untitled Detroit race riot drama.

The only other details provided so far come by way of The Hollywood Reporter, who writes:

J.C. Chandor is directing the film, which has a screenplay by Mark Boal. The action-adventure pic is set in the border zone between Paraguay, Argentina and Brazil.

Chandor is known for “Margin Call,” “All is Lost” and several others. No further details on the new project are available at this time.

Ali received his first Oscar nomination for Best Supporting Actor for this year’s “Moonlight.” He won virtually every critics prize for the role, as well as a SAG Award. He lost out at the Golden Globes and BAFTA, however, although he’s widely expected to win the Oscar. In addition to “Moonlight,” he also appeared in “Hidden Figures,” another Best Picture nominee.

His future projects include Robert Rodriguez’s “Alita: Battle Angel” and Michael Larnell’s “Roxanne Roxanne.”

Stay tuned for more details on “Triple Frontier.”
