What a great evening, so happy for all the winners and Moonlight in particular!
    (very weird finale though..)

  • N.J.

    ECSTATIC FOR CASEY!!

    • Adventurer

      Me too. So well deserved.

Moonlight is a groundbreaking, beautiful, and empowering piece of cinema that deserved to win Best Picture. This vindicated the entire award season for me. It is going to give so many communities especially POC, lgbt youth, and victims of bullying or unfortunate circumstances hope for the future. This will go down as an iconic and historic victory.

If the third part of Moonlight had been done better, I’d have agreed. But the third part was very disappointing considering the first two were magnificent. Very well directed, acted and written.

  • Lukas

That was actually a really funny, well run ceremony until the fiasco at the end. Hopefully Beatty, Dunaway and Kimmel don’t get too much hate for it. I loved both Moonlight and La La Land so I’m happy for the success both achieved on the night, it’s just hurts to see La La Lands producers so disappointed and the whole cast/crew of Moonlight have their big moment overshadowed by this occurrence.

    • AyeAye

Why would Kimmel even get hate for it? lol He wasn’t even at fault. The crew + Dunaway/Beatty duo are at fault here.

      • Lukas

That’s what I’m saying is that I hope the media and/or public doesn’t see it as a poor hosting job or put blame on the wrong people just because of the lack of organization of others.

    • Phill Milner

Kimmel had nothing to do with that collapse.

  • AyeAye

Much better ceremony than last year, which was not kidding a total bore. Not just the hosting (Rock is one of the most unfunniest host I’ve seen) but also the winners. Disappointed that Academy again showed ineptness in voting for Animated movies as Kubo was far superior and Stone winning over Huppert/Portman was an atrocity. But plenty of deserving winners like Affleck, Moonlight, MBtS, Ali, Davis etc. Suicide Squad winning over Star Trek was the worst win though, I mean SS was mediocre even in the make-up department incomparison. The Best Picture fiasco was also funny tbh even though I cringed a little inside. Waiting for Dolan Tramp to tweet about this. #AlternativeWinner #FakeNews

Worst Oscars in history. I’m actually pretty happy with the epic collapse considering I wasn’t a fan of (most of) the winners. LaLa Land’s BP loss was great to see and the fact that the mediocre film they did give it to is getting lost in the mix because of that train wreck ending is only fitting.

During an Oscar year where politics swayed so many votes (probably more than ever before), this seems like the perfect punishment for the organization’s ignorance.

I tuned in only to see if Casey could upset, and when he did, I was so ecstatic that I watched the last few awards. Thank you Oscars. You helped me go to bed happy and with a smile on my face. Thank you for sucking the way you did in a year where I hated the film slate so much.

Also just heard on the radio this morning that they goofed the in memoriam and put someone who was still alive up there.

I’m not trying to be the Debbie downer of this night, but just let me revel in this failure. I hated so much about this awards season. It feels good to get a win!

  • Tee

I hate that this will be the legacy of Moonlight- not that it’s an excellently crafted and intimate film, but that it ended upsetting a fam favorite in the worst way possible.

    • Phill Milner

All i’ve heard about it this morning on the radio is the LaLa Land mixup. No one is talking about the quality of Moonlight. It’s a shame. Especially if you thought it was a good movie.

      • Tee

I happen to think Moonlight is one of the best films of this decade, but I can understand some people having flaws with it (I personally can’t see them, though).

  • A.j.

11 incorrect predictions I believe if I counted right. The best of the best when it comes to oscar prognosticating I guess

  • Derrick

A HUGE congratulations to MOONLIGHT………………I’ve told several of you that MOONLIGHT would pull an upset win and I WAS RIGHT……………..
I felt sorry for La La Land after the mix-up but was OVER THE MOON for MOONLIGHT

    • AyeAye

I wasn’t sorry Blah Blah Bland lost, but I was sorry about the mix-up since it got their excitement up only to get mutilated and burnt lol

      • Derrick

Also, MOONLIGHT made history by winning WGA Original Screenplay and then winning Adapted Screenplay last night at the Oscars!

  • Trev

What’s great about Moonlight winning Best Picture is that not only did this small little film get the accolade is deserved, but La La Land won’t get the bad reputation that a movie like The Artist got. Both are excellent films and they will both be remembered for that. And also Warren Beatty.

    • Adventurer

La La Land is already not well liked. It has already been tainted. La La Land drew two type of response, one was very positive another was very negative. It especially got a lot of backlash after the Globes win.
