I know that we are all over talking about the 2016 film year, but I have one question for the AC staff. Looking back on 2016, if you had to choose three films that you believe would become classics, what would they be?

Mine are 1) Moonlight 2) Arrival 3) La La Land

Looking forward to another film year with Awards Circuit!

    • Lakeshow

      I say LLL

    • Alec Glass

I think Clayton may really be onto something with Silence

  • Calvin Damon

I started watching the Beguiled trailer and right when I said to myself “It looks okay, but I don’t know what they are talking about”, shit started getting interesting

  • Kevin

I like Karen on the podcasts, she should be on more often.

  • John

By the way you can already watch the Beguiled. The 1971 original with Clint Eastwood and Geraldine Page, it’s a great movie.

  • Luke McGowan

I feel bad that Mark felt the need to apologise to all the snowflakes who were insulted last week. I think the vast and silent majority understood what he meant and that he didn’t mean to diminish Moonlight.

  • Borja Olarra

How do you feel about James McAvoy and Alicia Vikander in Submergence? People want a nomination for McAvoy for Split and I don´t really see that happening…so could Split be that performance that helps him get closer to Oscar kind of like Legend and Mad Max helped Tom Hardy in 2015 to get that nod for The Revenant?

    • Borja Olarra

Actually, just saw the poster which looks really bad, and the screenwriter is the one from The Last Face so, I lost my confidence in this movie in two seconds…

  • Jeff Marshall

It bothers me to no end that we live in a time when someone like Mark Johnson, a very learned and intelligent gentleman, feels obligated to issue an apology just because he voices a very strong opinion that may come across somewhat politically incorrect or go against the grain of the consensus opinion. Have we become so thin-skinned that anyone who voices an opinion contrary to our own must footnote their thoughts with a caveat? Mark, whether or not I agree with your opinion, I commend your for your passion and integrity and hope we reach a point where voicing a strong opinion is not something that requires absolution afterwards! (By the way, I’m a long time listener who LOVES your podcasts – keep up the great work!)

    • Julie

I agree. He’s a wonderful movie commentator. I love your commentary and predictions… and in this case totally concurred with them. YAY to northeastern Ohio.

    • Alec Glass

Indeed! I for one, completely disagreed with him on his diagnosis of the win last podcast, and yes got a bit angry at him but only in the same way he was angry that it won haha, Moonlight being my far and away favorite film of the year, but yeah no apology necessary, its always great to hear everyone’s differing opinions, that’s why I listen.
