Jovan Adepo, who recently played the part of Denzel Washington’s son in “Fences,” is heading to Paramount’s WWII film “Overlord.” Wyatt Russell of “Everybody Wants Some!!” fame will also star in the pic.
Julius Avery (“Son of a Gun”) will direct the film, which follows a script by Billy Ray (“Captain Phillips”) and Mark Smith (“The Revenant”). Bad Robots’ J.J. Abrams and Lindsey Weber are producing.
Deadline reported the synopsis as the following:
On the eve of D-Day, American paratroopers are dropped behind enemy lines to carry out a mission crucial to the invasion’s success, but as they approach their target, they begin to realize there is more going on in this Nazi-occupied village than a simple military operation. They find themselves fighting against supernatural forces, part of a Nazi experiment.
Adepo also stars in HBO’s “The Leftovers.”
Russell, son of actors Kurt Russell and Goldie Hawn, also recently appeared on Netflix’s sci-fi anthology show “Black Mirror.” He has several titles set for release in 2017, including: “Ingrid Goes West,” “Table 19,” “Goon: Last of the Enforcers” and “Lodge 49.”
The film is looking to start production in May in the U.K., according to The Hollywood Reporter. Further details on the film are not yet available.
