Gina Rodriguez Will Voice Carmen Sandiego in New Animated Netflix Series

In 2019, “Jane the Virgin” star Gina Rodriguez will tackle the question of “Where in the World Is Carmen Sandiego?” in “Carmen Sandiego,” a new, animated Netflix series scheduled for 2019.

In the upcoming animated series produced by Houghton Mifflin Harcourt, Carmen Sandiego is back and ready for a new crop of international capers packed with thrilling adventure and intrigue. This fresh take presents an intimate look into Carmen’s past where viewers will not only follow her escapades but also learn who in the world is Carmen Sandiego and why she became a super thief.

The character first shot to fame in the “Carmen Sandiego” video game series by Brøderbund Software. The games spawned books and shows, including “Where on Earth Is Carmen Sandiego,” which ran from 1994 to 1999 on Fox.

In addition to Rodriguez, Finn Wolfhard (“Stranger Things”) will voice Player, Carmen’s chief accomplice and friend.

Duane Capizzi (“The Batman”) is co-executive producer and showrunner for the new show. CJ Kettler (“The Tick”) is executive producer. Caroline Fraser is the executive in charge of production.

Kevin Dart (“Mr. Peabody & Sherman”) and Chromosphere will handle visual design, while DHX Media is the animation studio on board.

The animated series is produced by Houghton Mifflin Harcourt for Netflix and will premiere in 2019. It has received a 20 episode (22 minutes each) order from the streaming giant.
