The fourth and final trailer for “Wonder Woman” debuted on Sunday during the MTV Movie and TV Awards.
Gal Gadot had the honor of introducing the trailer during the broadcast. Gadot plays Diana Prince/Wonder Woman in the first standalone female superhero film from a major studio. Her co-stars include Chris Pine, Robin Wright and David Thewlis.
Patty Jenkins directed the film and is the first woman to direct a superhero movie from a major studio. Jenkins made her feature directorial debut with “Monster.” Charlize Theron won an Academy Award for that film. After “Monster,” Jenkins went on to direct television series, receiving a Primetime Emmy nomination for the AMC series “The Killing.”
Fans of the DC Universe have had mixed reactions to the films. “Man of Steel” met mostly positive reviews, but “Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice” and “Suicide Squad” were not well received.
Gadot’s Wonder Woman was first introduced in last year’s “Batman v. Superman.” She will also appear this fall in “Justice League.”
Warner Bros. has recently come under criticism for its subdued marketing campaign on “Wonder Woman.” Releasing the final trailer during a televised awards ceremony was no doubt a strategic move.
“Wonder Woman” will be in theaters June 2. For more information, visit the official website.
