Kenneth Lonergan Will Be Honored at the Austin Film Festival

It’s been a very good year or so for Kenneth Lonergan. First, he saw his third feature “Manchester by the Sea” debut to absolute raves at the 2016 Sundance Film Festival. Then, he witnessed it continue to blow people away all throughout the awards season, leading to a half dozen Academy Award nominations. That culminated in an Oscar win in Best Original Screenplay for Lonergan, who also was nominated in Best Director. Now, after that glorious and award filled run, he has one more honor set to be bestowed upon him.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Lonergan is going to be receive the 2017 Distinguished Screenwriter Award at the upcoming Austin Film Festival & Writers Convention in the fall. The festival takes place in late October, with his big moment at the annual Awards Luncheon on Oct. 28th. He really knocked it out of the park with “Manchester by the Sea”, so this is a well deserved honor. Congrats to him.
