Oscar Hopefuls Drop New Posters including ‘Mudbound,’ ‘Wonderstruck,’ ‘Rebel in the Rye,’ and ‘The Death of Stalin’

Over the past two days, a few new posters have dropped as we head into the heat of the end of summer.  Oscar season is nearly here and the studios are gearing up for their slates to make noise.

The first is Dee Rees’ “Mudbound” from Netflix.  Starring Academy Award nominee Carey Mulligan, Jason Clarke, Jason Mitchell, and Mary J. Blige, the film has already been touted as an Oscar player out of the Sundance Film Festival.  The film was just announced to be screening at the upcoming New York Film Festival.

Another NYFF entry, Todd Haynes’ “Wonderstruck” got a new poster.  Premiering at Cannes last May, the film received strong praise from critics.  Distributor Amazon Studios already have positioned to be one of their big hopefuls for the fall.  Will the film’s buzz pick up steam?

Lastly are two smaller entries on the awards circuit but exciting nonetheless.  IFC Films will be bringing “The Death of Stalin” to the Toronto International Film Festival while their other hopeful is the J.D. Salinger biopic “Rebel in the Rye,” following its premiere at Sundance earlier this year.  Will they mount a campaign and do where they came up short for past entries like “Clouds of Sils Maria?”

Check out all the new posters down below and discuss them in the comments!

And be sure to check the Oscar Predictions to see where all these contenders rank.
